Vera doesn't remember much about her childhood and her Xaela mother, Dagasi, was tightlipped about it. All she knew was that they had to leave the Azim Steppe the day she was born. She sometimes wonders what became of her birth father—had he already passed when she was born? Or had he left them and lives on somewhere else?

They moved to Kugane where Dagasi worked as a small-time merchant. There, she would eventually meet her future business partner and wife, Sora, a Hyuran local. As soon as they had enough money, they sent Vera to be a reputable merchant's apprentice even though Vera had very little interest in the art of trade.

Her apprenticeship eventually led her to Eorzea, her mothers in tow for the thrill of new business opportunities. It wasn't meant to be a permanent move but the impending circumstances that led up to the Calamity made it so.

In some cruel twist of fate, Vera's mentor and mothers died in the aftermath of the Calamity. Vera, one of the sole survivors of their caravan, was inconsolable. Her grief eventually gave way to anger and she vowed she would become strong enough to protect those who cannot help themselves. She trained in Gridania as a lancer for a time but soon moved onto Ul'dah to train as a gladiator.

There, you know how the story goes. Vera joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and became known as the Warrior of Light...

When Vera's friends and loved ones are in danger, she is always quick to jump into action. Her simple motto is 'act first, think later,' although sometimes this approach doesn't always work out in her favor. Her fellow Scions always admonish her every time she gets severely injured due to her reckless nature. In particular, it seems Alisaie and G'raha admonish her the most but who can be certain?

When Vera first met G'raha, she thought he was full of it and often dismissed him. But by the end of their Crystal Tower adventures, they had developed a strong bond of friendship. Little did Vera know that she would be meeting him again much sooner than she thought...
